Hi! This blog is now an archive. For current projects: www.lisacurrie.com

Bless The West

Today's scribbler izzzzzzz.... *self-indulgent bongo solo on a stranger's beer belly* Mason McFee aka- Maseman! He said he's "not the best at following instructions" and went a bit wacky on the scribble sheet. But I like that. Very much! His scribbles actually gave me a big ol' stink-face when they arrived on my email doorstep. You know that weird contorted mouth-spasm that happens when something is very cool to you? Do you get that? If something is REALLY MY CUPPA TEA it makes my brow go into the foetal position and my lips start doing awkward gymnastics. Okay whatever image you have of me in your head right now, I bet it's a good one! I'd rather you keep it but if you absolutely need to shake it off that's okay too: [SHAKEY SHAKE!]

OUR SCRIBBLY TATTOO PARLOUR!

Today's scribbler(s!) is everyone who came out to The Scribble Project Tattoo Parlour yesterday at the Bend & Snap Market in Melbourne! We inked that skin up REAL GUUUUUD! Our four skin-canvas volunteers were very patient and stood very still as we doodled wild squirrels on their chest and sophisticated monocle tattoos on their pretty young face. Actually maybe we can't call them "volunteers" exactly since I did birth these three bikini-clad sisters (and that one dude) from my own paint tins. Would we call Frankenstein a volunteer? Have I ever seen that movie? Not important right now.

Either way they looked pretty chuffed with all the attention (and thigh tickles) they were getting! Especially the dude I painted in the romantic boxer shorts. You could tell he loved it. My little brother doodled a tattoo on his right bicep saying "im awsome and strong" heh! Because ladies don't know these things unless you make it very clear. In black permanent ink. On your bulging bicep. And with that dating advice from a young boy with eight whole years of life experience I'll wrap things up here!

...and some very serious crotch doodling by these two dudes, heh! Follow me on instagram (@scribbleproject) for behind the scenes photos. I mean "behind the scenes" making the tattoo parlour, not "behind the scenes" doodling crotch. Cool!

Ooooooozy.

Today's scribbler is Erik Mark Sandberg! WOOOAHH. This is exactly how my brain feels when I go on a tv series binge and keep saying "one more episode" until before I know it three days and one glorious spin-finish have washed over me and I drag myself into the shower half-believing myself to be DEEP INSIDE the tv show. Then my mushy brain starts clicking back into reality while I shampoo my hair. But for those few dark-lit days in my bedroom by the glow of the laptop screen my brain is a wonderland of bad guys, good guys, twisty-turns and scripted sexual tension and it is LIVING, dammit! Point is: this scribble really trips my brain out. Did we expect anything less from Erik? Naaaah!

Put A Fortune Cookie On Your Head

Today's scribbler is Masuko Jo. Wow, imagine an edible fortune cookie as BIG AS YOUR HEAD. Even as big as my (surprisingly large) nog! You could wear it down to the cafe in the morning. Like, oh this? This is my fortune cookie hat. To the barista you've had a crush on for months: "well hello Mr Barista, you look famished after a long morning of work and too busy to take a proper break... would you like a cheeky bite of my edible headwear?". BAM, what a line! The crumbly cookie dandruff would be so worth it. So would the paper fortunes needing to be cleaned out of your earlobes every morning. What do you think? Edible hats: YES or NO? (hint - there is no wrong answer because today all paths lead to Masuko! whew!)

Bath Under The Stars....

Today's scribbler is Cate Edwards and she's a lady after my own heart with this "bath under the stars" idea! Whatever you're doing right now wouldn't it be better done in a deep tub of hot water under the twinkly moonlight? OF COURSE. Actually no! Gosh. I just realised what you're "doing right now" should never be done in the bathtub. Oh: unless someone is kindly transcribing my blog onto audiotape (THANK YOU STRANGER I IMAGINE YOUR VOICE TO BE LIKE SALTED CARMEL MELTING INTO MY EARLOBES) then that'd be fine. How about we tap-tap on our laptops first, then soak our naked skin under the stars second? Yes!

Blood, Sweat & Tears! Yummy!

Dear today's scribbler Audrey Malo, if your time machine (mentioned above) happens to zip past my front lawn today PLEASE let me throw my limbs into the backseat. Not just my limbs though: my entire body and soul because 1998 is where they belong baby! Talk about a GOLDEN YEAR. My pre-pubescent brain was getting tag-teamed by romantic mush, with Rose & Jack and K-Ci & Jojo raising my boyfriend standards to (thus far) unreachable heights. But who cares man, I was rocking the maroon corduroy overalls and Spicing Up My Life and perfecting our cartwheel technique with my best mate! It was a simpler, more jiggy time. So for anyone else keen to hitch a ride into the late 90's you can stay tuned on Audrey's facebook page! No doubt she'll holler at us when the time machine is ready and our slap bracelet and butterfly clip rations have been organised.

2031

Check it OUT! Today's scribbler is Han-Yun Liang and this tricky trickster put the date as 2031 which *chimes...*... is the future... *fade out...*. Did you read those sound effects correctly? I guess we'll never know. But if it makes sense to you then it's the right thing to do! ACCIDENTAL SLOGAN. I'm actually really grumpy that I can't blog with audible sound effects because there is a beautiful mash-up of soaring eagles and fifth dimension music going on in my head and it deserves an earlobe to call home dammit!

I Will Scream YES

Today's scribbler is Carla Uriarte and we get a BONUS ROUND of *three* diary pages from her today because she "found it addicting" and just kept on scribbling. GOOD STUFF. For real though: I am a bit in love with that cat-human she drew (above) looking all sassy and satisfied with life, his floppy jazz-paws at the ready. Oh I really WISH there were a sassy cat-human sitting on the other side of this kitchen table right now in a soft pink sweater. There'd be a mellow saxophone tune playing in the background and we'd both sway gently while I typey-type and she purry-purrs. DREAM ON DREAMER! Anyway jazz-paws or not, we're all friends here. So if you'd like to keep snooping in Carla's diary (she don't mind) you can't dig in on her tumblr and below!

+++ Magic Powers +++

Today's scribbler is Yanrong, a fellow Melbourne chick! Isn't it funny how we get all chummy when we find out that someone shares our hometown? Once we realise we're wearing the same metaphorical team jerseys then BAM, we're bonded. But maybe I have bumped into Yanrong at some point? Maybe we've done the awkward footpath dance when she was going left and I was trying to go right and "whoops you go" and "no sorry you go" etc! Maybe! Anyway: road trips, campfires, magic powers and ocean-life in her lungs? She sounds like a fun friend to have around. Next time I'm in the city and notice someone with ink under her nails and seawater bubbles popping out her nostrils I'll be sure to say helloooo!

So Lazy...

Today's scribbler is Julia Petrova and I'm a big fan of this lady's sketchbooks! Uhh-oh now I want to insert a wide-eyed emoji face followed by a thumbs up emoji. Getting an iPhone has not done good things for my word skills! I'm trying (really hard) to refrain from using smiling piles of poop to express myself on this blog. Not sure how long I can hold out though. If you follow me on instagram (do ya? do ya?) then you'll know I enjoy a cheeky emoji here and there. Actually I just tried and emoji's don't work in blogger. That's probably for the best! We can still use our imagination though, hey kids: [emoji of a sassy flamenco dancer] « clicky click! (seriously....click it)

I AM A RAINBOW

Today's scribbler is Andrea Manica from Toronto!

420

Today's scribbler is Dominic De Venuta and this is (I think) the first scribble sheet I've ever posted where the date is actually today! 4.20! This excites me. It's like watching a sporting match in REAL TIME. No actually I don't watch sport. Okay it's like having a sneaky live-feed set up in Dominic's house, watching him go about his day AS IT HAPPENS. Nah I don't do that either.... promise. Anyway if I did organise a live-feed in Dominic's place today I can guess what he'd be doing: celebrating today's unofficial holiday. And probably eating lots of snacks. FOLLOW THE SMOKE RINGS: @kungfutoast

Fresh Laundry!

Look at this cutie! Today's scribbler is Andrea Maassen. First let me describe to you how I'm feeling today... two words: fresh laundry. If fresh laundry were an emotion! Which it is, right? Try this: close your eyes for a moment and give yourself a small & gentle hug (if you're in public, maybe do a sneaky yawn-hug) and daydream about fresh laundry, all warm and sweet-smelling. Are you doing it? Are you doing it? Good. Now we both feel freshly-laundered! That's all I really wanted. Also: Andrea did a sweet review of my book The Scribble Diary (her images below) and while you're still lethargic from self-hugs (thus putty in my cyber-hands) I'm going to suggest you head over to her blog for a look. Are you doing it? Are you doing it? Good.

Draw Things

Today's scribbler is Rachal Duggan and I really-extremely like this chick! She makes me giggle. She also makes me go "HAHA CUTEEE!" and that is a good mix of things to be able to make a person do. If you're brand new to this blog (Welcome. Sit please. We've been waiting for you) then you might like to know that THIS is the scribble interview Rachal started with. She did a pretty great job with it huh? I especially like the studded dog collar and the six pack. A+ if I may say so! And I guess I may because AIN'T NOBODY ELSE HERE TO STOP ME. So much power! Must use for good not evil. Starting with: this link!

Free Killer Whales!

Today's scribbler is Susana Lopez and this scribble sheet is a good time, am I right? I'm looking at it and thinking THIS IS A GOOD TIME! And you know I really mean that because I said it in capitals. I like the way Susana draws! It reminds me of youth (not that I need reminding, I'm still pretty youthful okaaay) and "after school hangs" and finding good library books to read then doodling in their margins just a bit. I'm not sure why it reminds me of these things but I enjoy the reminding anyhow! Okay, now you can go bury your face in this delicious bowlful of doodles. SEE YAH!

In Outer Space

Enough talking about cats this week, let's talk about something else! Today's scribbler is Haley Stark and I reckon she wants us to talk about outer space. Cats in outer space? STOP IT. No cats! Just planets and stars and the milky way. No cats in outer space. Only monkeys. Aww monkeys in spaceships with tiny space helmets and no pants on! Good visual. And Bruce Willis pushing Ben Affleck back into the spaceship so he doesn't have to miss a thing with Liv Tyler! THIS is the unofficial soundtrack to today's scribble! Oh what a messy paragraph. I blame it on the "space crazies". That's a thing, right? Haley?

Hey, Kids!

It seems we're continuing our theme of cats this week (YES) because today's scribbler is Jeffrey Brown! I don't mean that Jeff is a cat. Although that would be GREAT! Ohh an adorable cartoonist kitten with shockingly dexterous paws, grumpily licking ink off his fur. Imagine! Well this paragraph took a delightful climax early on, not sure where I can go from here. Half of that above sentence is true though! Jeff is a cartoonist and he does have very dexterous hands (not paws) and he may for all I know have the kind of furry chest that ink could be spilled upon. I DON'T KNOW. Anyway, the reason I mention cats is that Jeff authored a book called Cat Getting Out Of a Bag. It's very good!

The Internet Is For Cats

Today's scribbler is Anita Goldstein and how rad is this scribble sheet she did for us! I'm not even sure what to say about it. It's like being in high-school and getting all coy when the cute-cool chick said hello to me. My instinct was to shout at her "HEY I REALLY LIKE YOUR EFFORTLESS COOL" but that didn't feel like an appropriate thing to do. So instead I shushed my face and mumbled something about cats on the internet until she eventually walked away. BYE THEN! Luckily it seems Anit would dig my mumbly cat comments and probably share a few of her own. So anyhow, now I'm going to pat you on the bum for good luck and send you two places today: first here, then here. Enjoy!

Land Ahoy

Today's scribbler is Anne-Marie Jones. Oh I love this scribble sheet. Those pale blue waves! That tiny boat drifting along in the ocean! Do you see it? I want to be on that boat right now... not in a realistic, seasick, lost at sea, gutting-a-fish kind of way. In a daydreamy way: sailor boyfriend throws down the anchor, we dangle our legs into the ocean, he mumbles a pretty acoustic version of I'm On A Boat into my ear, we snack on a cheese platter, watch our shoulders freckle, sigh deeply, daydream about getting home to our wifi connections. Mmmm! Okay, land ahoy: take a wander on Ann-Marie's cyber soil!

The Sweet Unknown

Today's scribbler is Judit Orosz and her scribble sheet reminds me of the sweet unknown! Like diving off the pier without dipping your toe in the water first. That wild mix of jitters and the fun you might have any moment now. Know what I mean? The sweet unknown is my favourite thing in the world ever! Aside from maybe love. Although love mostly is the sweet unknown I suppose. Hmmmm yeah I'm really getting lost in my thoughts and lost in this scribble! Thank you for the trip Judit.

Date Night

Today's scribbler is Bella Harris and wow I am glad to be writing this in a sunshiney cafe and not home alone at midnight while the candles flicker and the record player begins to sk-sk-skip. This scribble sheet is so beautiful! But I scare easily like a newborn bunny and those lady-eyes (above) are a confusing mix of REALLY pretty and REALLY bloodshot. I might just sneak away quietly while I can! Just kidding. I never back down from a staring game. Bring it on, pretty-bloodshot lady!

o o o o o

Today's scribbler is Julia Yellow. Is that not a big bowl of sunshine right there in a name? When she emailed me this scribble sheet (above) I could only imagine that she was the boss-lady in some sweet modern-day fairytale. She'd be clicking away at her macbook in a pokey apartment on a leafy street, tiny birds and baby deer poking their faces into her kitchen window. It was a confusing daydream actually because she lived four-floors up in her apartment block. How that baby deer managed to scale the fire escape with such adorably clumsy legs I will never know! Anyway that was just a daydream. Or was it?

Hoodwinking

Today's scribbler is Kari-Lise Alexander. Pretty pretty pretty! That's all I have to say right now. I just spent ten minutes floating down this rabbit hole (AKA her website) and now I'm mulling over how RIDICULOUS is it that certain humans can grab a few tubes of colourful goo (oil paint) and a few bristles on the end of a stick and then create this dreamy wonderland normally only seen on the back of eyelids during nap-time. Artists who toe that line between realism and fantasy make my head explode with delight and awe! Gooey brains splattered all over this blog right now. As I said: so pretty!

Elephant Power!

Today's scribbler is Sathya Ranjana. We've never even met or shared a few minutes of polite banter in a coffee shop while both picking out a breakfast muffin (me going for the pumpkin, her umming over the lemon & poppyseed) but even so - I'm pretty sure Sathya and I are soul twins. Her over in Denmark and myself here in Melbourne, both sipping tea and thinking about elephants. Could it be? Maybe! Either way it's nice to have someone draw what you feel without them even knowing you. Also: this leopard, aww!

the xx

Today's scribbler is Higinia Garay with this clever remix of my scribble sheet. And now that I've dropped the word "remix" into this paragraph all I can think to myself is RE-RE-RE-REEEEMIXX!! I can't help but sing aloud every word I type with a rhythmic stutter. I hope you do the same. IS THIS FUN OR WHAT!! Wicky-wicky! (coupled with the appropriate "dad being embarrassing on the dancefloor" hand-gesture, please)... yep good clean fun for a Sunday morning! Okay you're excused now: sweet escape!

Permanent Groupie

Today's scribbler is Jem Magbanua and gosh am I happy about it. I don't normally say the word "gosh" except maybe a few times when Napoleon Dynamite was a thing. But I will say it now! Loudly! Aloud! Because for once I am home alone writing a post rather than at a busy cafe so why not make a song and dance about it? GOSH. The point is: this scribble sheet (above) by Jem is a lovely thing and I hope I haven't ruined it with my shouty watered-down curse words. So anyway: GOOD TIMES AHEAD IF YOU CLICK HERE! (this is not a funny trick, it's a link to more of Jem's pretty drawings. I swear!)

Stuff My Ma Told Me

Today's scribbler is my good mate Melissa Tan! We met last year at a hostel in LA and shared a common love of "assorted dips" and I admired (still admire) her bold use of tupperware snacks when we go out. I think "tupperware snack preparedness" is my new favourite quality in a friend. Also! She's editor of music blog Who The Hell and you might (or I might, since you're not here) sum her up as a clever and friendly hunk of pretty lady with very itchy feet. I mean "itching to travel" not the scabies kind. ♥♥

Twenty-Something

Today's scribbler was actually due to be featured next week but she shimmied her way to the front of the blog queue due to her scribbly good looks! WERK IT GURL. I really could not let these pretty scribbles (above) by Marie Gardeski wait in line. I swooned and got weak! I let her cut in! Don't let my Beyonce references and independent woman eyes fool you, folks. At heart I am a pimply young delivery boy who goes mushy and erratic and stares for too long when someone (or someTHING) pretty is nearby. *runs away sobbing*

PS - Marie makes these baby hand soaps! The perfect mix of adorable and a bit creepy.

Free Fireworks Show!

Today's scribbler is Fruzsi Kenez. Her scribbles (above) make me feel like I'm watching fireworks! Craning my neck up towards the sky, eyes wide, ears flooded with the sounds of CRACKLE-BANG-FIZZLE-FIZZLE-BANG-SHHHHHHHHhhhh and then a collective "woooah" and wild applause from the crowd. Then a milder applause as people quickly pack up their picnic rugs and small children and rush to the nearest exit because they want to leave the city before everyone else does. But you don't have to rush home right now because this is the internet. Stay all night if you like! These fireworks are 24/7 baby! Yeah!

Easy On The Eyes

Today's scribbler is Ann Vagt and if I could describe her scribble sheet (above) in one short sentence it'd be this: easy on the eyes. Don't you reckon? It makes my eyeballs feel so happy and relaxed! Like putting them both on a sunlounger and telling them it's an open bar and that Ann called in sick for them today so they can just chill, lay back and watch the pool gently ripple as the breeze goes from nothing to mild and back to nothing. Then they'll do a cute little yawn and say "thanks Ann" and wrap a pastel-green towel around their waist and get on with their day. (I hope that you're now imagining my eyeballs wrap a pastel-green towel around their waist. Cute!)

Chocolate Bunny

Today's scribbler is Cajsa Ritar. Last week she sent me this scribble sheet (above) but I forgot to post it yesterday. That's okay though because I bet some of you are now nursing sugar hangovers and this can be a nice reminder of the chocolatey overdose that was TOTALLY WORTH IT. Or maybe you haven't hit the hangover yet because you're still nibbling on brown eggs for breakfast? Or maybe this is just a reminder that chocolate rabbits bigger than your face will now be half-price at the supermarket and maybe even 70% off for the ones that melted into deformed bunnies if you live somewhere warm!
