I believe that stones are living beings

Hey guys, so I have a friend and her name is Charlotte Peys and instead of having actual fingers, she has pencil-fingers. I know, right... weird. Five pencils on each hand. Most of them are greyleads of varying thickness, and she's also got one stumpy yellow pencil where her pinky would normally go. She keeps them very neatly sharpened at all times, which is admirable if not a tad dangerous. Her back scratching is divine though! And what she lacks in ability related to kneading cookie dough with her bare hands, she makes up for by being an incredibly good illustrator. I mean, she has pencil-fingers, so duh! How unjust a world do we live in that a girl born with pencil-fingers would be bad at drawing?

Pictured above is Charlotte's take on my name game shame scribble sheet, proof that 1) she's a very good illustrator and 2) those pencil-fingers are not going to waste! I like how she says "I think stones are living beings" because me too. For more drawings you can visit her friendly internet home at www.charlottepeys.be and you'll see there's SO MUCH more to her than just fingers made of pencils. She also has hollow toes filled with lukewarm vegetable soup. See you guys!

Today's scribbler is Duza, aka Dusty Brasseur! Duza's scribbles are like a nighttime walk through the forest without a flashlight. The more you look around and your eyes adjust, the more you see little faces pop out and - wait, what was that noise?!! If this was real-life I'd poke you in a ribs right now and make you squeal! Lucky for you it's kinda impossible to surprise-poke someone via the typed word. LUCKY FOR YOU. Okay now run away and check out Duza on facebook! (don't worry, that link isn't a booby-trap to make you squeal. Or maybe it is! You scurrrrred?)

PS- I'm taking a hiatus from this blog to backpack in Europe. I'll be back in October with a fresh batch of scribbles! I will miss everyone. But especially you. Bye for now!

Spoonful Of Nutella

Hello! How are you? Good I hope. May I just say: wow, your earlobes are very clean. Like a freshly laundered bedspread made of ear-skin! I'm impressed. Nice job. Tell you who else has really clean earlobes? Today's scribbler, Shelley Savor! Can I confirm that? No. Do you care? Probs not. Is this a segue into talking about Nutella? It was suppose to be!!! But I got lost somewhere along the way and I guess it doesn't matter anyway because LOOK HERE WE ARE talking about Nutella. Shelley likes Nutella. That one I can confirm! Nice. Thanks for riding this clumsy segue with me. You are as patient as your earlobes are clean! Until next time... x

Do Not Disturb

WHO IS TODAY'S SCRIBBLER??! That's the question on everyone's lips this morning. I see a handsome milkman fumbling with his glass jars and pre-pubescent boys scraping their kneecaps - everyone is so clumsy with anticipation! The sunrise this morning was like an agonising slow-clap yet to reach it's glorious climax of applause! Nuns and expectant mothers and chubby bachelors on the streets whisper, "sh shshh shh, today's scribbler, shh sh... who is it? who is it?" as they nibble on their cheese baguettes.

OKAY MY FRIENDS! NO LONGER MUST YOU WAIT! Today's scribbler izzzz.... (cut to closeup of drippy brow being wiped)... izzz... (ad break)... iz... (glamour closeup of my freshly powdered cheeks).... today's scribbler is Natalya Yamshchikova! Sorry bout the wait. And the kneecap scabs. But worth it for the double dose of Natalya's scribbles, no?

Burp.

Today's scribbler is Maggi Li and her pooey brain! Haha! I reckon if this blog was Lady Gaga in her many festive skins than today would be her "day off" where she doesn't wear a lick of makeup and just hangs out in bed with her dogs, farting and eating lots of cereal. Today we keep it simple! Today we rock bed-hair, with a happy little smile on our mouth! Today we eat three bowlfuls of pasta and cheese because it's the best thing ever! Two ingredients. Done. In my face. Yum. Simple. Good. Thanks. Burrrrp.

PS - When Maggie isn't burping she's art director of the amazing kids magazine OKIDO. And I heard that if you follow her on twitter she will randomly drop £2 on the ground somewhere in London and if you find it, it's all yours babe.

Learn How To Live

This week's scribbler is Anna Voyaka and her cut-and-pastey scribbles! Okay I know it's TUESDAY and I'm suppose to post on MONDAY but I blame the time difference. And by "the time difference" I mean the 24-hour lag between "the time it actually is" and "the time it FEELS like after having a confusingly long nap on a Sunday afternoon". Hey wait: are all these "quotation marks" making your fingers twitch into "air quotes" without you even realising? That makes me feel powerful like a puppet master! You are all Backstreet Boys and this is our Bye Bye Bye film clip! Now I shall leave you guys to draw straws about who has to be Nick Carter in this scenario. Bye! (ain't no lie) Bye bye bye bye!

Today's scribbler is Eva Szentgyorgyi from London!

Toe Thumbs

Hey! I spy another elephant! This week is ALLLLL about our floppy-earred chums. As it should be! Elephants are the best. Did you know that a mama elephant is pregnant for over 1.5 years (YEARS) before she gives birth to her bub? Crazy. Did you know that some newborn elephants suck their trunk for comfort like a baby human sucks their thumb? Ahhh the thought of that kills me. I melt into an emotional puddle. Here's another one: did you know that today's scribbler is Eliot Wyatt? Yes sir. Shove those tidbits into your knapsack of random trivia because these are the FACTS dude! Then go visit Eliot and tell him the thing about the cute baby elephants. He'll love that, maybe!

Bless The West

Today's scribbler izzzzzzz.... *self-indulgent bongo solo on a stranger's beer belly* Mason McFee aka- Maseman! He said he's "not the best at following instructions" and went a bit wacky on the scribble sheet. But I like that. Very much! His scribbles actually gave me a big ol' stink-face when they arrived on my email doorstep. You know that weird contorted mouth-spasm that happens when something is very cool to you? Do you get that? If something is REALLY MY CUPPA TEA it makes my brow go into the foetal position and my lips start doing awkward gymnastics. Okay whatever image you have of me in your head right now, I bet it's a good one! I'd rather you keep it but if you absolutely need to shake it off that's okay too: [SHAKEY SHAKE!]

So Lazy...

Today's scribbler is Julia Petrova and I'm a big fan of this lady's sketchbooks! Uhh-oh now I want to insert a wide-eyed emoji face followed by a thumbs up emoji. Getting an iPhone has not done good things for my word skills! I'm trying (really hard) to refrain from using smiling piles of poop to express myself on this blog. Not sure how long I can hold out though. If you follow me on instagram (do ya? do ya?) then you'll know I enjoy a cheeky emoji here and there. Actually I just tried and emoji's don't work in blogger. That's probably for the best! We can still use our imagination though, hey kids: [emoji of a sassy flamenco dancer] « clicky click! (seriously....click it)

I AM A RAINBOW

Today's scribbler is Andrea Manica from Toronto!

Fresh Laundry!

Look at this cutie! Today's scribbler is Andrea Maassen. First let me describe to you how I'm feeling today... two words: fresh laundry. If fresh laundry were an emotion! Which it is, right? Try this: close your eyes for a moment and give yourself a small & gentle hug (if you're in public, maybe do a sneaky yawn-hug) and daydream about fresh laundry, all warm and sweet-smelling. Are you doing it? Are you doing it? Good. Now we both feel freshly-laundered! That's all I really wanted. Also: Andrea did a sweet review of my book The Scribble Diary (her images below) and while you're still lethargic from self-hugs (thus putty in my cyber-hands) I'm going to suggest you head over to her blog for a look. Are you doing it? Are you doing it? Good.

Hoodwinking

Today's scribbler is Kari-Lise Alexander. Pretty pretty pretty! That's all I have to say right now. I just spent ten minutes floating down this rabbit hole (AKA her website) and now I'm mulling over how RIDICULOUS is it that certain humans can grab a few tubes of colourful goo (oil paint) and a few bristles on the end of a stick and then create this dreamy wonderland normally only seen on the back of eyelids during nap-time. Artists who toe that line between realism and fantasy make my head explode with delight and awe! Gooey brains splattered all over this blog right now. As I said: so pretty!

the xx

Today's scribbler is Higinia Garay with this clever remix of my scribble sheet. And now that I've dropped the word "remix" into this paragraph all I can think to myself is RE-RE-RE-REEEEMIXX!! I can't help but sing aloud every word I type with a rhythmic stutter. I hope you do the same. IS THIS FUN OR WHAT!! Wicky-wicky! (coupled with the appropriate "dad being embarrassing on the dancefloor" hand-gesture, please)... yep good clean fun for a Sunday morning! Okay you're excused now: sweet escape!

Stuff My Ma Told Me

Today's scribbler is my good mate Melissa Tan! We met last year at a hostel in LA and shared a common love of "assorted dips" and I admired (still admire) her bold use of tupperware snacks when we go out. I think "tupperware snack preparedness" is my new favourite quality in a friend. Also! She's editor of music blog Who The Hell and you might (or I might, since you're not here) sum her up as a clever and friendly hunk of pretty lady with very itchy feet. I mean "itching to travel" not the scabies kind. ♥♥

Free Fireworks Show!

Today's scribbler is Fruzsi Kenez. Her scribbles (above) make me feel like I'm watching fireworks! Craning my neck up towards the sky, eyes wide, ears flooded with the sounds of CRACKLE-BANG-FIZZLE-FIZZLE-BANG-SHHHHHHHHhhhh and then a collective "woooah" and wild applause from the crowd. Then a milder applause as people quickly pack up their picnic rugs and small children and rush to the nearest exit because they want to leave the city before everyone else does. But you don't have to rush home right now because this is the internet. Stay all night if you like! These fireworks are 24/7 baby! Yeah!

Scalliwaggin!

Today's scribbler is Stephanie Tillman and I'm pretty sure she's the first embroiderer we've had on the blog! She's also the first scribbler to draw for us (above) two wolves pashing on. I'm VERY sure of that. Now trying my hardest not to segue into a gross story about my first kiss with a ginger-hair boy who came at me like a motorboat and very nearly swallowed me whole. We probably looked exactly like those wolves. Except more drool and less fur! Actually I'm surprised I haven't already mentioned my first kiss on this blog because I think about it ALWAYS... and thus can no longer eat juicy mangoes. Anyway! BLEH. Let's shake off that unsexy memory and go visit Steph's etsy shop!

Raisin Day

Today's scribbler is Ohara Hale and her new foe THE RAISIN. This morning I was eating raisins in my trail mix but not anymore! After seeing Ohara's sad little blue raisin with the frowny-face (above) I'm no longer eating the raisins so much as affectionally stroking their wrinkly flesh and tucking them into pairs so that they can reminisce together about their days as a young grape and maybe spend their last uneaten moments having a cuddle with their plump, delicious friends! THEN I WILL EAT THEM. Actually I probably won't eat them now that I've humanised them so much. Guess I've just adopted myself a litter of raisin pets... for life! Ohara the accidental raisin activist!

Craps

Today's scribbler is Rylsee and his scribble sheet (above) is so full of good things!
I thought about just leaving this paragraph blank except for a wiggly, hand-drawn sign saying ⇡⇡⇡ LOOK UP ⇡⇡⇡ like kids with spray paint sometimes do in the hopes that you'll notice how pretty the sky is today. But then! I found this sign Rylsee painted (below) for a BFF toilet that is actually a REAL THING... and how could I not mention that? There, mentioned. Now look how pretty the sky is today! And by "the sky" I of course mean this mural of an old dude playing chess with what seems to be a rat-sheep.
