Django

Today's scribbler is Duza, aka Dusty Brasseur! Duza's scribbles are like a nighttime walk through the forest without a flashlight. The more you look around and your eyes adjust, the more you see little faces pop out and - wait, what was that noise?!! If this was real-life I'd poke you in a ribs right now and make you squeal! Lucky for you it's kinda impossible to surprise-poke someone via the typed word. LUCKY FOR YOU. Okay now run away and check out Duza on facebook! (don't worry, that link isn't a booby-trap to make you squeal. Or maybe it is! You scurrrrred?)

PS- I'm taking a hiatus from this blog to backpack in Europe. I'll be back in October with a fresh batch of scribbles! I will miss everyone. But especially you. Bye for now!

Loosen Up

Today's scribbler is Kinrisu and I love this chick! In art school we had to do abstract collages with ripped paper and I never got the hang of it. My teacher told me to "loosen up" (he had a ponytail) but see, I'm the kind of human that spends my last $10 on neat plastic binders rather than groceries, so I was probably always destined for mediocrity in that class. Now I live vicariously through artists looser than I could ever be! Such as Kinrisu. She's one of my favourites. Certain ponytailed art teachers might call her drawings "mmm, good" while nodding their head in that semi-impressed way. Me? I go OHH! COOL! and clap my hands like a happy baby. Or a well-trained seal. More here and here!

The Right Now

Today's scribbler is Cendrine Rovini and (if I may say so) her drawings should ONLY be looked at by moonlight, preferably laying on your belly in a four poster bed in the middle of a fragrant, overgrown, weedy garden, with a mildness in the air and a campfire burning nearby. OH BUT ALAS: Right now I'm balancing awkwardly on my knees in a public wifi zone and there's a shouty drunk man babbling in my general direction. MUST CLOSE MY EYES and pretend his beer breath is a fragrant wild shrub and that shouty nonsense is some kind of insect mating call. This neon WIFI sign will be my moonlight tonight!

Let's Make Sport!

Today's scribbler is French illustrator Marion Barraud. What first caught my eye was her watercolour mountains (below)! No wait that was the second thing. The first was actually the pineapple on her blog header, with the tiny smile and boofy ponytail. It reminds me of the hairdo I use to rock when I was a toddler. Yeppp my early days were spent looking like a chubby pineapple, thanks Mum! And thanks Marion for the nostalgic joyride! It's the first (but not the only) reason I like to visit your blog.

Draw With Colors!

Today's scribbler is Möön, a designer and teacher from France. I know he resolves to add a few more colours to his pencil box, but DAMN if my black & white drawings were this lovely I'd stick with them too. Actually Möön's Facebook page reminds me of that movie Pleasantville as he dips into the colour box more and more. But how about for today we celebrate our old trusty favourite... this one's for you Mister Monochrome!
